Rules of Engagement
Community Guidelines
“Every report and comment on TEND is a public document. Write as if a journalist, a government official, and your neighbour will all read it — because they will.”
Reports
- —Be factual and objective. Describe the infrastructure issue exactly as it is.
- —Include clear, well-lit photos. Blurry or manipulated images will be rejected.
- —Ensure the location pin matches the physical reality of the issue.
- —Do not include photos of people's faces or license plates unless unavoidable for context.
- —Never report the same location and issue multiple times to "boost" visibility.
Comments
- —Comments are for adding context, not for venting. (e.g., "The water pipe burst further up the street too" is helpful; a rant is not).
- —Do not attack government officials, agency workers, or other citizens.
- —No hate speech, ethnic slurs, or politically motivated harassment.
- —Keep discussions focused strictly on physical infrastructure.
Voting and Following
- —Upvote a report if it impacts you or your community.
- —Follow a report if you want to receive status updates.
- —Using bots or coordinated groups to artificially inflate the vote count of a report is strictly prohibited and will result in the report being frozen.
Disputes
- —If a government agency marks an issue as 'Resolved' but it is not, citizens use the 'Dispute' button, not the comment section.
- —You must upload a current photo proving the issue is still present to open a dispute.
- —Frivolous disputes intended to artificially keep an agency's SLA running will result in account suspension.
Violations
- —Accounts that repeatedly violate these guidelines will be banned.
- —Depending on the severity, TEND admin may issue a warning or enact a permanent ban without notice.
- —If you see a report or comment that violates these rules, use the 'Report Abuse' feature.
